The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced in a press release today that they do not intend to add any new Bitcoin futures contracts for March. This comes as CME Group has been in a notable lead over CBOE with its own Bitcoin futures contract.
The announcement came as part of an update on new products coming in March. The relevant portion reads
"CFE is not adding a Cboe Bitcoin (USD) (“XBT”) futures contractfor trading in March 2019.CFE is assessing its approachwith respect to how it plans to continue to offer digital asset derivatives for trading. While it considers its next steps, CFE does not currently intend to list additional XBT futures contracts for trading. Currently listed XBT futures contracts remain available for trading."
